Pausing Billing, Refunding!
Just a notice for everyone who is CURRENTLY SUBSCRIBED or HAS SUBSCRIBED in the past – I’m pausing billing indefinitely, probably forever, and also will be REFUNDING any paid subscriptions from the last two years or so. I need to look back for the last time when I actually delivered on the promised content.
The billing freeze is in effect right now. The refunding process will take a little bit. I’m probably going to be reconstructing it from receipts and emailing people individually over the next couple weeks. I can afford to right now. I’m making a decent amount of money from ghostwriting work, work that was enabled by the support I got from this, and I never made significant money from this newsletter, so I can pay it all back without trouble. If you don’t want the refund, find a mutual aid organization that does, and I’ll send it to them instead.
Long story short, I couldn’t deliver enough material to justify charging, and I don’t know the next time I’ll be able to. I obviously shouldn’t charge money for what I don’t do. I’m sorry I let people pay for so long. Frankly I was too burnt out to even clean up the situation. Right now, I’m fine, or sort of fine, but operating at a really narrow bandwidth. I’m doing a bunch of jobs and writing for my MFA program. I love writing in this newsletter but I haven’t had it in me for a while. I think not charging will get me out of my head.
Thank you for subscribing, all who did. I truly love writing – I’m almost pursuing a career in it by now, in a long slow quiet way – and anyone, friend, family, or stranger, who supported my work made a huge difference in getting me there. That goes for paid, but also for free subscribers. You’re both appreciated.
Looking forward to writing more fun or interesting stuff when that becomes possible.
